Superfruits

super fruits and coconut water

We all know fruit is an essential part of a healthy, balanced diet, but there’s a certain variety of “superfruits” that contain an excellent source of antioxidants, fibre, vitamins and minerals. Think of them as the superheroes of the fruit world.

Have a peek at our five favourite superfruits below. There are tips on how to easily add them into your day and a tasty recipe for our killer Cocobella Superfruits Smoothie.

Blueberry

The itty-bitty blueberry is bursting with antioxidants and manganese, which plays a helping hand in keeping you energized and fighting signs of ageing.

Blueberries are known to keep your brain sharp and alert so they’re a great kick-starter for those sluggish afternoon lulls. Snack on them straight out of the pack with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Banana

Never underestimate the humble banana! Just like coconut water it’s full of potassium – a mineral that keeps organs and muscle tissue in good health. It’s a healthy carb that will fill you up and boost your metabolism. Add it to your breakfast routine and try it on wholegrain toast with tahini, honey and chia seeds for a great start to the day.

Pink Guava

The tropical guava is an exciting addition to your fruit salad. It’s very high in vitamin C and B groups making it an immunity fighting and stress busting superfruit. Eat it raw or drink it in pure form without added sugars or preservatives.

Lime

All citrus fruit contain a high percentage of vitamin C and fibre, which helps fight disease and improve digestion. Limes are a zesty, fresh flavour to include in your diet. Keep them in your fruit bowl and squeeze them into warm water for a healthy morning cleanse, or for hot summers try this easy Lime Sorbet.

Pomegranate

Pomegranate means “seeded apple” so expect the same crisp, fresh flavor but with slightly bitter undertones. It’s high in vitamins C and K and many reports claim it could potentially help prevent cancer. Only the seeds of the fruit are edible, with pops of sweet and sour tastes that work well in quinoa salads or muesli.

An easy way to get your hit of superfruits every day is to blend them into a delicious smoothie. Add some Cocobella coconut water into the mix and you’re ready to attack your day with vigour.
