Springtime Goal Check – 5 Steps To Get You Started

Seasonal change, particularly in Spring, is a wonderful time to refresh the system and get back in touch with your personal hopes and dreams. For some of us, springtime tends to contain substantial workloads, deadlines and even exams, so it’s important to care for yourself and check in with your goals to make sure you stay true to your aspirations throughout this busy time. To help you out, we’ve collected 5 steps to make sure you’re on track to achieve this Spring:


1. Clean it out // Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.

To start, it’s time to lose the baggage, literally and metaphorically. This means old clothing and possessions that are cluttering your living space. Less is more, and having more space will offer mental clarity. You know the golden rule: if you haven’t used it for a year, you probably don’t need it! This also means ditching tired habits, toxic relationships and unnecessary practices. You know what they say, ‘out with the old and in with the new’. De-cluttering is proven to be good for the mind and the soul so you can focus on yourself and making a fresh start.

2. Walk it off // All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking.

Next, get outside and feel the sun on your face! There are proven results that walking stimulates cognitive health and self-esteem, which is good news for your goal setting. Whether it’s with a good pal or a solo-venture, walking will be the breath of fresh air that you need to keep moving forward (pardon the pun!). Take this time for yourself, and think about what you want.

3. Self-talk // Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!

Don’t forget, it’s essential to have positive conversations with yourself in order to check your goals. Great things to ask include: what do you want to achieve? What do you want to get out of the rest of the year? What is most important to you, and what steps will it take to achieve it? Whether it be a new fitness routine, career or academic goal, a healthier outlook or savings for a holiday, planning ahead truly is the best way to get started.

4. Write it down // Imagination create reality.

Anything is achievable when you truly believe in yourself. As they say, the sky’s the limit! The best way to visualize a goal? Putting pen to paper! Sit down, take your goals and to-do’s and write them down. Deciding to make a change becomes a lot more real when you can see it, and your likelihood to stick to it will skyrocket.

5. Treat yourself (and rest) // Every person needs to take one day away

Be kind to yourself. Give yourself a pat on the back. Reward yourself for all you’ve achieved and get excited about what’s coming next. Think about what makes you happy and make sure you’re spending time on things that make you smile. Balance is important and believing in yourself is a huge step towards reaching for the stars.
